Christopher Trefz, was born 1982 in Pennsylvania. He attended Downingtown High School, and graduated in 2001. At an early age, Chris knew he wanted to make art a central part of his life. To pursue a career in the art field he attended college at Temple University's Tyler School of Art. He graduated in May 2005, majoring in graphic design and illustration. Working as a graphic designer, he steadily pursued both writing and illustration on the side. Click here to visit Chris' illustration portfolio.
In 2006 Trefz was contracted by Windstorm Creative for his first book, "Below the Waves: Timmy's Quest", which he wrote and illustrated. It successfully sold out on the Barnes & Nobles web site and Amazon.com. However the company ceased operation and distribution not long after the book's release. Fortunately Trefz still retains the rights to the book and is now re-releasing the story as a self published book. Other books he has illustrated include: "The Realoscope of Ringgold Valley" and "Bumper Cars in the Kuiper Belt" both by Lance Justin Peter Okones.
For older audiences, Chris is also the author of a science fiction series called the Reptilia Droc.An ongoing space adventure told through a series of illustrated short stories and novels.
Chris is also available to for school visits. He did his first Presentation at the Phoenixville Renaissance Academy in March 2011 in celebration of Dr. Seuss' Birth day.
Chris talked to grades K-3 about the inspiration for his stories, answered questions, and drew characters from his books. He then spoke to grades 4-6 about the writing and illustrating process and how he became a published author. He also autographed books for the children during his visit.
